The Workout Experiment: Day 10

I woke up naturally, 1 minute before my alarm clock, today! It could be that I actually went to bed before 11pm. It could be that I just happened to hit the sleep cycles just right. Or... could it be that this exercise project is already bearing fruit? Wouldn't THAT be cool... :)

Day 10: Decided to try out my commenters' suggestion of exercising in the morning before my shower. Feeling on a high from waking up naturally, I did 50 seconds before hitting the shower and getting ready for my day.

Feeling good so far... hope I don't hit an energy slump later today or anything. I'll just have to be mindful of how I'm doing throughout the day and see whether am exercise works for me.

PS - This is the first day where I'm putting two cupcake stickers right next door to each other (aka exercised 2 days in a row). I kinda thought today I was due, but it turns out not. Cool!

PPS - the word "exercise" is starting to feel less scary/yucky/OMG-anything-called-exercise-is-gonna-be-hard-painful-and-humiliating and more EMPOWERING. Again... this is all very cool! My mood is on a pretty nice high today!

  1. Congrats!
I was taught a general guideline is that you will feel progress after day 1. It will get easier after the first week. You will be aware of changes after 21 days of exercising. You will *see* a difference after 6 weeks. Other folks, won't *see* a diff until 8-12 weeks later.
Since you are doing this for you, and you are already feeling a diff in sleep, you are ahead!

  2. I haven't seen any difference but I have felt it. I know I am stronger. Getting up after squatting down to the floor was difficult. Now I get up with ease. I some times resent that my body fat obscures the muscles I have developed. I just keep reminding myself it is about how I feel, not how I look.

  3. I really wish I was able to exercise regularly. I guess I'm always unsuccessful because I want to see results ASAP! I wish you the best of luck with your exercising experience! Have fun :)

  4. Hah! What a joke. You haven't posted in 15 days.

You are, and always will be, fat unless you are able to stick to things and not give up.

And don't try to act all "get a life/don't you have better things to do" - this is the second time I checked in on this blog in the last 2 weeks.

This is all null and void, of course, if you've been working out and eating right so perfectly that you haven't had the time to do a simple 10 minute blog post.

    But that's very, VERY unlikely.

    Enjoy diabetes and heart disease,

  5. Wow. Uh...thank you for your input? Comments like yours are so very helpful and supportive to people who are trying to make a positive change in their lives? You really know how to motivate people? It really means a lot that you take the time out of your life twice in two weeks to check this blog so you can say shitty things to a stranger?

Honestly, folks, I'd like to tear Anonymous a new one, but I'm just too sad about this kind of post to do it. These kinds of comments say a whole lot more about Anon than they do about the blogger.

And, FWIW, I know Amanda in the real world and she HAS been exercising. She's just also got the holidays, and crazy stuff at work, and the fiance just out of the hospital to deal with. And if you have to choose between building the new habit of exercising and building the new habit of blogging? I so totally vote for her to be exercising.

Anon, I hope you have a holiday filled with happiness and kindness.

I hope whatever in your life is making you so miserable that you say absolute shit to strangers gets resolved.

I hope you see a therapist to get over the body and weight issues that plague you so much that they make you be so vile to a stranger.

I hope your mother never finds out the horrible things you say online, because I don't think she'd be proud.

I hope the people in your life give you the love and support you need to stop being such an angry Internet troll.

    Happy holidays, y'all.
